It Was A Game Of Numbers, SC Ahmednasir Reveals Why ODM Was Defeated In 2017 And Why It May Repeat

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdulahi while referring to the cry of the Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga on the low voter registration turnout in Nyanza region has revealed why the Raila led National Super Alliance failed in 2017. According to Abdulahi, it was a game of numbers and the region which had the largest number of registered voters won the elections.

According to the senior counsel's analysis, the three Kamba counties, (Makueni, Kitui and Machakos), the four Luo counties (Migori, Homabay, Kisumu and Siaya) and the five Luhya counties ( Busia, Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga) had a total of 5.5 million registered voters.

On the other hand, the seven kalenjin counties plus three GEMA ones had a total of 7.2 million registered voters. With this comparison and analysis, SC Ahmednasir has ruled out any possibility that NASA votes were stolen as has always been alleged by pro NASA supporters.

Accordingly, the SC has said that if the trend in voter registration continues that way in the Raila Odinga strongholds, the defeat may repeat again.

This is coming at a time when most politicians including Raila Odinga are urging their supporters to go out in large numbers and register as voters so as to support his presidential bid in 2022.
