Opinion: Why Musalia Mudavadi Will not Bring Much Votes into UDA's Basket

Musalia Mudavadi may after all not bring so much to DP Ruto's basket. We understand that immediately after Mr. Mudavadi announced his working relationship with the Deputy President, the political landscape changed completely. One of the moves taken was a mass exodus from his ANC party to the newly formed DAP-K party.

The second move was the invitation extended by President Uhuru Kenyatta to all leaders from Musalia Mudavadi's backyard in an attempt to consolidate the base. President Uhuru is said to have expressed his disappointments by Mr. Musalia's decision to support his estranged Deputy. These two events might in near future affect Mr. Musalia's prospects in the Western Kenya vote basket.

These events aim to counter Mr. Musalia's popularity in the Western region. In his Youtube channel, Mr. Lee Makwiny opines that the President has just begun planning for ways to block Mr. Ruto from accessing the over one million votes from the region.

"The president is not happy with Musalia Mudavadi and he is keen to cut his popularity to size in the western region." He said.

The duo held their maiden joint political rally in Nakuru today. They will be proceeding to Bungoma for their second rally.
