Incumbent senator for Bungoma County has now been given green light to vie for the same seat in the incoming August polls.
This is after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on May 29th Sunday morning cleared him to officially defend his senatorial seat.Azimio at Ruto Rally [VIDEO] - Kenyans.co.ke"/>
Wetangula's clearance comes after UDA party leader and Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate had promised to nominate him as the speaker of the national assembly should the Kenya Kwanza coalition of parties win the August 9th presidential polls.
Many Azimio leaders have hitherto been downplaying Ruto's promise to Wetangula saying if the Bungoma senator was sure that Kenya Kwanza will form the next government and DP Ruto will be the next president of Kenya, why is Wetangula still vying for the senate seat.
However, defending his political move to defend his current seat, the Ford Kenya has told of critics claiming he is selfless and it is not mandatory that he is picked for a senior position.
''''I am defending my seat of senator Bungoma county because I am not selfish. Whatever I will get for Ford Kenya will be shared amongst other Kenyans...I don't have to be up there; I'm satisfied where I am,'' said Wetangula.
