Peter Kagwanja, a political and governance expert, has urged President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance camp to back Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance's effort to amend the constitution and create office of the official leader of opposition in Kenya.
Kagwanja argued on Tuesday with Spice FM that the position will make the Azimio work of keeping Ruto's government in check effective and efficient, allowing President Ruto to deliver on his agenda.
He went on to say that Raila or the leader of the opposition should be presenting his case before MPs and Senators in Parliament, and that the opposition should be given financial support and a shadow cabinet to keep Ruto's cabinet in check.
"I can assure you that if you tell William Ruto that we need a strong opposition, he will listen. If Professor Kagwanja isn't working for William Ruto, he's working for Raila, and Raila can hire me as an expert on GMOs and other issues affecting the country. On Raila and the opposition's behalf, I am able to examine the hustler fund. Most people's livelihoods will be jeopardized if they go to Kamukunji "He struck a pose.
Play the video below and start listening to Kagwanja at the 15:09 mark.
