Two Presidential Candidates Finally Arrive at Bomas

Presidential candidates Wajackoya and Waihiga Mwaure have finally arrived at Bomas.

Reportedly, the IEBC has asked for the first three rows of two sets of terraces to be vacated so that presidential candidates and their families can sit together.

The final results of Tuesday's presidential election are supposed to be announced by Wafula Chebukati, chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and returning officer. Bomas of Kenya and other key venues in Nairobi and across the country were given extra protection before the big event.

As of Monday morning, the Commission has confirmed and sent results from 263 of 291 districts. If the results verification procedure is completed on schedule, commission insiders said Chebukati could reveal the results on Monday.

Given that Chebukati has been on the record as declaring, "I will only disclose the findings in broad daylight and not at night," this choice would be very dependent on the availability of time.

The Supreme Court ordered in 2017 that the validation procedure must be complete before the final announcement, which has resulted in the longest wait in Kenya's election history.
