Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has now told President William Ruto to honour the promises he made to the residents of Western Kenya during his campaign periods.
The Azimio allied leader now says that President William Ruto promised his region what is approximated to 30% of the national cake, something he says has not been honoured to date.
Oparanya also says that 30 per cent meant that they would be given 7 slots in Ruto's cabinet as opposed to 3 slots that they have bagged so far from Ruto's administration.
According to Oparanya, these promises that he now brands empty are some of the reasons Western Kenya overwhelmingly threw their weight behind Kanya Kwanza in last year's polls.
“We were told that if Ruto wins the presidency, Western would get 30 per cent of the national cake. This means out of the 22 Cabinet slots, the region would get seven ministers. But we only got three Cabinet slots, isn’t this a raw deal?” asked Mr Oparanya.
