Political leaders from different parties have camped in Matungu constituency in Kakamega County for a by election campaign that is to be held on forth of march this year.
The ODM secretary general ODM Sifuna took the Orange campaign to the villages in a bid to secure the seat after the death of MP Murunga who succumbed to Covid19 last year. He was in the company of the ODM candidate in Matungu David were, together they took their campaign to Mirere and Namalingu wards
Bonny Khalwale on the other hand is representing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) which is a party associated with the deputy president William Ruto.
Amani National Congress (ANC) of Musalia Mudavadi has also fielded a candidate in Matungu.
The Race is very tight with analysists projecting UDA to Win following the influence of Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale. He has been using the door to door campaign method , being his home region he does not spend much on transport unlike politicians from other regions.
Matungu is strategically located in between kakamega and Mumias towns making the constituency accessible to politicians who are traversing the county to secure votes.
