The covid 19 vaccine is set to land in the country today. The governor for Meru Kiraitu Murungi has weighed in his concerns even before the vaccine has been offloaded.
According to the Meru governor, those to receive the vaccination first should be president Uhuru Kenyatta followed by his deputy William Ruto. Kiraitu further added that after the president and his deputy, the Cs for health Mutahi Kagwe should be next quickly followed by by his team.
After Kagwe and his officials, governors and senators should quickly follow. According to Kiraitu, the move is aimed at restoring confidence on the vaccine. According to him, many Kenyans are sceptical about it and to restore confidence in the vaccine senior leaders should lead by example by being the first ones to be vaccinated .
The Kenyan government has so far indicated that those to receive the vaccine first would be health workers due to the fact that they work on the front line. The vaccine if well administered to everyone in the country will surely curb the spread of the deadly virus and ensure a return to normalcy is achieved.
