Opinion: Political Significance and Possible Repercussions of Martha Karua's Endorsement By Kuria, Kiunjuri & Kabogo

Martha Karua was recently endorsed as the spokesperson of the larger Mt Kenya region by several politicians including Moses Kuria, William Kabogo and Mwangi Kiunjuri.

According to political pundits, it is believed that she is the most experienced among the politicians who attended the meeting and she also is politically acceptable since she has not shown whether she supports Dp Ruto nor Raila Odinga.

But what could be the political significance and repercussions of her endorsement ahead of the 2022 general elections? In my considered opinion, moses Kuria and his team decided to endorse Martha Karua for the purpose of repositioning themselves so as to increase their stakes on the running mate position.

They are basically trying to create a strong force that will be able to negotiate for the interests of the larger Mt Kenya region.

The second possible significance of Martha Karua's endorsement is to lock out William Ruto out of the larger Mt Kenya region. Dp Ruto as we all know is the current darling of the voters in the larger Mt Kenya region.

This has made the group of Mwangi Kiunjuri, Moses Kuria and Martha Karua question their significance in their own backyard. With Dp Ruto's influence in the region, he may have a hand in who becomes the next governor, Mp or even MCA in the region, something that this Moses Kuria team wants to stop.

On the other hand, their recent endorsement may work to their disadvantage incase the people of the larger Mt Kenya region will not embrace them. For those of them who might be planning to run for elective seats, they may get a shock of their lives by being voted out.

I don't know what you think but that's my take. Do you think this Moses Kuria faction commands a significant political say in the region? Leave your comment below and remember to click the follow button and share this article.
