Kenyan on social media have today ganged up against Deputy President William Ruto following his latest remarks after meeting religious and grassroot leaders. The Deputy President has been making news over the last few months because of his frequent opposition of some of the projects launched by the government which he is part of as the second in command. DP Ruto is also popular by virtue of being one of the presidential candidates in the coming 2022 general elections.

Today, after meeting leaders from Lari Constituency, he took to his official social media pages and updated Kenyans about it.

“It is the duty of any Government to formulate relevant policies and programmes that give opportunities to the youth to earn a living. Young people should, therefore, rally behind a political formation that will deliver — in a deliberate manner — opportunities for them to have jobs and conduct businesses. This opportunity exists at the revolutionary Bottom-Up Economic Model,” William Ruto posted on his Facebook page.

“Met religious and grassroots leaders from Lari Constituency, led by former MP Mburu Kahangara at the Karen Residence, Nairobi County. MPs Githua Wamacukuru, Kimani Ichung’wah, John Kinyua and Mugambi Rindikiri were also present,” Ruto added.

Going by their comments, the remarks by the second in command seem to have angered a number of Kenyans on social media with most people mocking him for his unfulfilled promises. According to some people on social media, Ruto is only after seizing power then forgetting about the plight of the common Kenyans who are the majority of voters.

Below are some of the reactions from social media users:

Kiptoo: We are tired with lies. You have been in this government for long and we are still crying because of high living standards, raised school fees, medical bills, petrol prices and lack of food. We can barely feed ourselves and our children. I wish all Kenyans were sane enough to vote for Raila who knows how to lead. He has been leading us well while out of the government but selfish leaders have been opposing him. We now need him at the top.

Rapemo: I repeat, there's no miracle that will happen in Kenya after 2022 regardless of who becomes President. After voting, it will be business as usual as those in power start replenishing their bank accounts having spent heavily on campaigns. Before long, the divided Kenyans will find themselves in one corner again crying and waiting for 2027 to gamble again. It's an old story my friends. The political class and their families will not cry, they will fly out to Bahamas or Dubai for political vacation.

Smart: The Deputy President in government telling us what the government should do? Surely are you mad? Say your government has failed and so give me the presidency I pretend to solve what we've failed in 10years. Sugoi is your home of armed chicken.

Oscar: To win my sympathy vote you could have resigned over 3 years ago. As long as you are in this government that is burdening us, you can't be part of our solution.
