Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid seems to have received another major boost ahead of 2022 after one of the MPs from Kiambu county expressed clear indications of joining the UDA party ahead of 2022.
This is after the recently elected People's Empowerment Party (PEP) party MP George Ndungu Koimburi welcomed DP William Ruto to be the guest of honour in his homecoming party and prayer day slated for 29th October 2021 at AIPCA Matangani Kiambu county.
The MP, who was sponsored by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria under the PEP party, has kept a low profile in embracing Kuria's new party (Chama Cha Kazi). Kuria has suggestively distanced himself from UDA party, since the inception of the CCK party.
While it was expected that Koimburi will brand his PEP party, he instead chose to rebrand his homecoming party poster with UDA colours and slogans, sending a clear signal that the MP could be running on a UDA seat in 2022.
It is not yet clear on whether the MP has invited his former boss Moses Kuria to the party or not. This has since elicited reactions from various quarters, with those allied to ODM party boss Raila Odinga accusing Koimburi of abandoning Kuria, who helped him win the seat and embracing Ruto.
