The application process for the post of the next CJ ended yesterday. The Judicial Service Commission gave its statement on the applications for the vacancies in the offices of the Chief Justice who also serves as the president of the Supreme Court.
Kenyans have shown their interest to replace David Maraga. About 13 top Kenyans made their applications however, it was unfortunate that acting Chief Justice, Philomena Mwilu's name together with other members of the Supreme Court were missing from the list of those were interested in the position.
On the other hand leaders from the ODM camp have also spoken on the process to get the next CJ. Donald Kipkorir, who is a close ally of Raila has claimed that some of those who have applied to the Judicial Service Commission to be the next CJ are gossips, materialistic, abrasive, very aggressive, intemperate and are not God fearing.
He added that of those who have applied to be the next chief justice only one person qualities. He said that William Ouko is the right person for the post as he has courtesy of chivalry, wisdom, he is a philosopher and has the sobriety of a monk. He also claimed that Ouko practises impartiality and his age is accepted for him to hold the office.
Kipkorir said that none of the other candidates has these qualities. He claimed that justice Nduma is still young. Steve Ogolla made a prediction over this issue and said that it is justice William Ouko who is in a better position to be the next Chief Justice.
He added that Ouko has enough experience and he is very intelligent. He also the right temperament, judgment and deserves based on regional and ethnic balance. Justice Kathurima although is a celebrated jurist, greatly respected man for his intelligence, cool nature but is fit to be a judge of the Supreme Court.
Mutula Kilonzo claimed that to make more predictions. He agreed with Kipkorir that Ouko's mien just sounds like that of a Chief Justice and maybe that is the reason he may succeed to be the next Chief Justice.
