Raila was also accompanied by his inner circle ally Junet Mohammed. Junet is the Suba North MP and the minority whip in parliament representing the ODM party. In his speech at the Kisii event, the MP found himself revealing how the government is going to run once Raila ascends to power.
Junet pointed out that things are going to be different once Raila is president. He particularly said that the government would belong to the people of Nyanza who have always been sidelined in previous administrations. He added that Nyanza is going to enjoy state power for once.
"Baba akishinda, serikali ni ya watu wa Nyanza" he partly said.
"If Raila wins the government will be owned by the people of Nyanza. I don't want this to get to the media, Mutahi Kagwe will be upset. Though even you and your people have enjoyed power for more than 20 years. In this round the government is for Nyanza locals. Mutahi you will soon come back here as a visitor," he said.
His speech elicited backlash particularly from Ruto allies who argued that Junet has revealed the true intentions of the ODM leader. That he is only power-hungry and does not intend to transform the country.
"Good thing with my good friend Junet Mohamed is honesty while speaking. He says it as it is, It’s all about political POWER and NOTHING more for them. No plan No Vision No Agenda," said MP Kimani Ichung'wa.
