DP Ruto's UDA in Trouble and Jubilation in Raila's Camp After Ruto's Close Ally is Set to Decamp UDA

Mr Kiunjiuri, who is the leader of The Service Party (TSP) on Sunday, said residents of the area would support a presidential candidate who would succeed in reform within 100 days.Raila opposes maize importation for the second time

"We as the people of Mount Kenya will support a candidate who will assure us that within 100 days of his rule, the Constitution will be amended to get the 11 more constituencies we promised. These constituencies will enable us to get representation equivalent to Sh53 billion more for development, ”he explained while attending a funeral in Siakago village, Mbeere North, Embu County.Kiunjuri: Raila not stupid, he will be in government after 2022 – Hivipunde

Mr Kiunjuri said the Mount Kenya region supported the balance of representation proposed in the Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2022. The bill, popularly known as the BBI, was outlawed by the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal after it was noted that its developers did not involve the public in its preparation.

In his campaign under the slogan of the United Nations Declaration Mr Odinga has promised the Mount Kenya region that he will revive the BBI Bill to enable the constituency to gain more constituencies.

"We will return the BBI Bill to get 11 more constituencies and Sh53 billion that you lost after the court suspended the constitutional amendment process. I would like to assure you that we will return Reggea whether they like it or not, ”Mr Odinga said on September 1, 2021 when he launched his campaign in Limuru, Kiambu County.Kiunjuri Publicly Differs With Ruto Over 2022 Gameplan - Kenyans.co.ke

The ODM leader said the BBI Bill was aimed at achieving the One, One Shilling, One Vote principle, which has been criticized by officials from the Mount Kenya region.

According to the Bill, the wider Mount Kenya region would have 11 more constituencies out of the 70 new parliamentary constituencies that would be created across the country. But Deputy President William Ruto has maintained that the BBI Bill was of no benefit to Kenyans but created more leadership positions for the benefit of a few "greedy" leaders.

On Saturday, Mr Kiunjuri appeared to disagree with Dr Ruto's statement calling it a lie and a conspiracy aimed at depriving Mount Kenya residents of equal representation and resource allocation.Ruto eyes the Service Party, plans to make Kiunjuri his Running mate - Kenyan_Report

“They do not tell us the benefits of BBI to us as residents of Mount Kenya. They deceive us that the responsibility of the bill is to create more space for political leaders. They may withdraw the proposal for the creation of more leadership positions but abandon the One Man, One Shilling, One Vote principle, ”said Mr Kiunjuri, appearing to refer to the issue of more seats in parliament.

According to Mr Kiunjuri, the constitutional amendment will enable the Mount Kenya region to have equal representation and equal supply of resources from the National Government.

This is in stark contrast to the campaign that the TSP leader was pursuing last year in which he warned Mount Kenya residents against supporting the BBI report, even before its public release.

“Our area has faced many challenges due to its large population and limited representation because the national leader is from our area. Let no one deceive you that they are the political voice in this area, ”Mr Kiunjuri told mourners.

He continued, “We will vote for a candidate who will solve our problems such as water scarcity, unfair representation among others. The one who will assure us that our vote is worth it. ”

Mr Odinga has been reassuring Mount Kenya residents that despite the court's decision to suspend the BBI's proposal through a referendum, the process will continue after he enters the White House.

In support of the constitutional amendment process, Mr Kiunjuri now appears to be engaging in Mr Odinga's wing stance and distancing himself from Dr Ruto's. This is despite the fact that the former Laikipia East MP has been a staunch supporter of the extremist movement as he is vying for the position of running for Deputy President in the presidential race.Former CS Kiunjuri ready to unveil a new political party – Kenyan Digest

Mr Kiunjuri appeared to be losing hope after taking over the post after Dr Ruto insisted he must break his TSP party and join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Dr Ruto has named the TSC, the Labor Party (CCK) led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, as tribal parties. This is despite the parties supporting his bid to enter the White House 2022.

This is why Mr Kiunjuri and Kuria have teamed up with Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua to form a coalition of the Mount Kenya Union. They said they were planning to fight for the interests of the Mount Kenya region under the umbrella of the coalition.
