"Kalonzo is Doing What Ruto Did" Expert Reacts to Remarks by The Wiper Boss, Cautions The President

The Ukambani Kingpin and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said that he will be on the ballot as a presidential candidate in 2027, adding he is confident that President William Ruto is his only obstacle for the top seat.

Kalonzo who has supported the Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga for three elections; 2013, 2017 and 20222 seem to be preparing to hit the ground for the 2027 presidential race as early as three months since the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance lost the top seat to Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Speaking in a Monday interview with NTV, Political Expert Hesbon Owilla argued that Kalonzo was only following in the 'footprints' of Ruto, who started preparing for the 2022 polls way before and shortly after the 2017 elections.

Owilla noted that there is no too soon in politics, and that Kalonzo had learnt one or two things from Ruto to start galvanizing his support way before the elections.

He went on send a word of caution to President Ruto, saying that should Kalonzo maintain the support he has in Ukambani, and Raila throws his weight behind him, then Ruto's re-election in 2027 might be in limbo.

"Ruto once said, 'I am a man in a mission no retreat or surrender,' and that has paid him off. Those who have waited including Kalonzo, Mudavadi and others have found out that there is nothing forthcoming."

"I think Kalonzo is starting early, he is now out to galvanize his support, not forgetting that he has a very strong base in Ukambani, and if he galvanizes the support we do not know what happens to the president in 2027."
