Ruto Reacts to The Fracas Witnessed in Kirinyaga on Sunday After Waiguru & Ngirci Supporters Clashed

On morning of Sunday November 28, there was a stand off between Governor Anne Waiguru and Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici's supporters hours before Deputy President William Ruto arrived for a church service and his series of rallies.

A section of the youths believed to be Wangui's supporters set ablaze Waiguru's campaign jackets, setting up an environment full of tension ahead of the DP's arrival. There was however a calm mood shortly before Ruto arrived.

Addressing the residents during his stop over at Kerugoya market, Ruto urged the leaders to be politically tolerant and put their differences aside for the well being of their county and the nation at large.

"I request all my fellow leaders very respectfully, let us maintain peace. The youths are looking at us and are expecting job opportunities from us. They are not looking to get chaos and violence from us but a better future. It is therefore upon us to preach peace and not chaos," posed Ruto, remarks that attracted cheers from the gathering.

The two leaders are eyeing the county's top seat under UDA party, although Ngirici has stated that she has taken a back step to re-strategize and plan her next political move.
