Former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has revealed some of the things that happen in secret regarding the leadership of the city.
Elachi says that the county is under the rule of some powerful businessmen, who are the ones who call the shots, and not the elected governors.
The Dagoretti North MP claims that it is these individuals who decide who stays and who goes, suggesting that they engineered Mike Sonko's ouster.
She says that even current governor Johnson Sakaja will be thrown out the moment he begins to interfere with the monied individuals' deals.
"Nairobi county is a very unique and interesting county where it is run externally by business people. When the businessmen feel that you have started curtailing them, they just use a few MCAs and you will find yourself in a situation and ask yourself why are we even fighting," she said on Thursday.
She alleged that these people will buy over MCAs to sponsor impeachment motions, claiming that she was a victim of the same while at City Hall.
"I was impeached while I was in Malindi. There was nothing that I had done that would have led to my impeachment but I know there was interest," the politician said about her 2018 ouster.
