Ngirici Set to Withdraw Case Challenging Waiguru's Victory

Former Kirinyaga county women representative and an independent gubernatorial candidate Purity Ngirici has dropped her gurbernatorial election petition against Kirinyaga county governor Ann Waiguru.

High Court Judge Richard Mwongo has given Purity Ngirici seven days to officially withdraw her case from court. Ngirici’s lawyer Brian Khaemba told the court that he had received instructions from his boss to withdraw the petition.

Justice Mwongo has given the petitioner seven days to formally seek permission to withdraw the case after learning of the petitioner’s intention to do so, during which period the respondents must also file their feedback.

According to the reports, honourable Ngirici decided to withdraw her case after wide consultations with the Kenya Kwanza leadership. She also claimed that her withdrawal of the petition was aimed at giving Waiguru easy time to deliver her commitments.

Attorney and Governor Anne Waiguru’s husband, Kamotho Waiganjo, was pleased by the decision, claiming it will allow the county leadership more time to fulfill its promises to the residents.
