The Deputy President William Ruto was expected to hold a rally in Busia County on 26th May 2022 at Simba Chai but the event has been suspended to avert clashing with Azimio One Kenya flagbearer Raila Odinga.
Raila Odinga is expected to hold a campaign rally on the neighborhood Amukura hence the clashing of these campaigns may turn out to be dramatic or many people may shun DP Ruto's rally and decide to go for the Azimio one.
According to UDA National Vice Treasurer, Mary Emase, she has confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke source that DP Ruto's rally has been postponed to a later date.
"We cannot hold a rally because they want to interfere with our programmes and that amounts to disturbance. They know very well that our rally was in Simba Chai and they went ahead to organize theirs in Amukura which is very close," Mary Amase stated.
This comes a time when the ODM Chief Raila Odinga is having a five day tour in the Western region. He will be expected to tour Kakamega, Busia and Bungoma counties.
Kenyans on social media have expressed mixed reactions towards DP Ruto's move to cancel his campaign in Busia in a bid to pave way for Raila Odinga. Many Kenyans have highlighted that DP Ruto has no votes in the Western region hence many people might not attend his rally when Raila is around.
