President William Ruto has often been accused by the opposition of befriending the Judiciary so that they can make decisions that favor him. This was after the 2022 presidential election petition was thrown out and Ruto's victory upheld. So many times, the president has attended judiciary functions. Even today, he attended the Launch of the Administration of Justice in Kenya Annual report 2021/2022 at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi. He then revealed how often he calls the judiciary.
He said that he knows there is a discussion as to why he appear in too many Judiciary functions. However support to the judiciary is so that they can effectively deliver justice to the people of Kenya. That he has never given the Koome led team a call so that they can do what suites him. He leave them to operate independently.
It should be noted that one of the things that president Ruto did when he took office was to swear in judges that had been left out by former president Uhuru.
Below is a section of the president's speech.
