It is the dream of every father to see his children excel in life, and more so, follow his footsteps. Most fathers will train their children to continue with the family's legacies. This explains why it is very common having certain families dominate in various fields such as politics and business.
In most cases, these children are brought up yo take over the mantle after the father retires. However, there is a very rare incident of a father who serves in the current Parliament along her daughter, both as Members of Parliament (MPs) in adjacent constituencies in Nairobi County.
Hon. James Gakuya is the current MP for Embakasi North constituency, serving a under same tenure with his daughter, Hon. Mercy Wanjiku who represents the people of Embakasi North. The two constituencies are adjacent to each other in Nairobi county.
Before her debut into the world of politics, the daughter worked as a lecturer at Kenyatta University and she is currently serving in her first term as an MP.
The father is currently serving his constituents for a second time.
