With the presidential contest now open with their running mates, the contest seems to shift slowly from the presidential candidates to their running mates. The deputy presidential candidates especially for the two top teams have been making showdowns in the Mt Kenya region testing who is much more popular than the other.
Martha Karua has been traversing the whole central region in the vote hunt for her Azimio coalition party which seems to be gaining momentum. With just few days left before the August polls open, all the instruments have been put in place for the teams to win these polls. 
Gachagua seems to be watching his competitors movements closely as the deputy president William Ruto is moving with speed to ensure he retains his influence in the region. From the sentiments which were made by the Kenya Kwanza coalition allied politicians, it is clear that contest especially in the mountain is under threat.
