Ngunjiri Wambugu, the member of parliament for Nyeri town constituency has revealed the only way deputy president William Ruto who is in the race to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta will win the seat in 2022.
The great critic of the deputy president has stated that Ruto has got an uphill task ahead of him considering that he seriously needs the Mt. Kenya votes and should get the highest number as compared to other contestants.
Wambugu stated that Ruto had tried to lock the region by building the narrative that after Uhuru, all the votes will go straight to him, however, the Kiambaa mini poll showed that the region is up for grabs.
This comes amid Intensified campaigns with almost all the Presidential hopefuls are trying to make inroads into the region, Mudavadi last week camped in the region trying to sell his bid, he was hosted by Nyandarua governor Francis Kimemia, former prime minister Raila Odinga also visited the region and was endorsed by a number of politicians including powerful governors.
Gedion Moi who has also expressed his Interest in succeeding the president is also hoping to get the support of the Mt. Kenya People. The region too is slowly producing presidential candidates, Speaker Muturi and billionare Jimmy Wanjigi have declared Interest in succeeding Uhuru. Ruto is banking on Mt. Kenya and his Rift Valley backyard to clinch the Presidency.
