National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi has predicted that soon there will be huge changes in the mainstream political arena in readiness for 2027.
Wandayi says that politicians will soon begin being seen moving away from their parties and coalitions into others, including those in the ruling camp.
He predicts that among those likely to be victims will be President William Ruto's UDA, as allies realize that they have better chances elsewhere.
The Ugunja MP has made these remarks while cautioning opposition politicians crossing over to Ruto that they might be making a big mistake. "Very soon you will realise and history is on our side, that new alignments start emerging. There will be new realignments, shifts in alliances, back and forth and this will affect even the party and coalition which has formed the government. I can tell you it won’t take long," he told the Daily Nation on Wednesday.
The leader has predicted that UDA might be among those that will be deserted and weakened as members identify other political homes.
He now warns that those leaving Azimio for Kenya Kwanza and UDA will end up realizing that they were actually better off in the opposition.
"So one could be running from essentially frying pan into the fire. You could be running from your house hoping to get refuge in somebody’s house yet the house you are running to is crumbling. So it’s very possible that by the time the next elections come, we shall be having a totally different landscape, politically speaking," he is further quoted.
