In a statement, the president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's Government note that they had suspended forthwith the mandatory Covid-19 testing at the border of Kenya and Uganda.
"Given the poor performance of antigen amongst non-symptomatic individuals and the continued buildup of trucks on the Kenyan side of the border creating another super spreader scenario," Olaro, Uganda's director of health services said.
This will be great news for the Kenyan truck drivers who had been stuck at the border point for weeks as well as other passengers seeking to enter Uganda through the Busia border point.
According to the latest details, more health officials would be deployed at the Kenyan side which will help ease the movement of people and good within the two countries.
Last week, the Ugandan government withdrew the mandatory testing fee that had been put but the situation never got any good even after the withdrawal of the mandatory testing fee.
