Big Win For Moses Kuria In Kiagu By-election As Court Make Another Ruling Against IEBC

Kiagu by election has taken new twist following the latest move by the court to bar independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to conduct kiagu by election. This is following an appeal by Chama cha Kazi led by Gatundu South member of parliament Moses Kuria.

"COURT bars IEBC from conducting Kiagu By-Election pending appeal by Moses Kuria's Chama Cha Kazi and its candidate," read the statement.

The By-election was expected to take place on October 14th, 2021. However, the ruling today will push the election further until when the court will determine when the election will be held.

The seat fell vacant after the death of Eunice Karegi, one of the only two elected female MCAs in the Meru County Assembly.

This is a big win for Moses Kuria and Chama cha Kazi. It's another blow to independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and it means that Chebukati led Commission will have to go to drawing board to organize and conduct Kiagu by election at a later date.
