Makueni county commissioner Mohammed Maalim has been promoted.
Maalim is now rift valley regional commissioner replacing George Natembeya who resigned to pursue politics.
Natembeya had announced that he will be vying for the Trans Nzoia county gubernatorial seat in the upcoming general elections.
He announced on Wednesday that his resignation was in a bid to concentrate on politics.
In his speech he thanked president Uhuru Kenyatta for the chance given to him to serve Kenyans and the state from Rift Valley region.
He noted that president Uhuru Kenyatta has always been available to deal with some of the matters he presented to him.
Natembeya had served for two years as a regional commissioner while Maalim has been in Makueni for over five years.
Gilbert Kibiyo who has been serving as Mombasa county commissioner for sometime now will take over as Makueni county commissioner.
