Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has finally rejected the August 9th, 2022 presidential election results. Raila Odinga termed them as null and void. In his remarks he said that their view in Azimio is very clear that the figures announced by Raila Odinga said that the law does not vest the Chairperson the power to rule the IEBC by dictatorship unless a unanimous decision is reached at. He said that the decision by Chebukati to declare the results by himself in the absence of half of the commissioners was wrong. He stated that Chebukati was biased his actions and they will never accept the results as valid to Kenyans.
Raila in his speech at KICC said that he was shocked that Chebukati could announce the results alone by intimidating four of his commissioners. He stated that Chebukati is throwing the nation in a political crisis which they are not ready to accept. In his statements he said, "The figures announced by Mr. Chebukati are null and void and must be quashed by a court of law. In our view, there is neither a legally and validly declared winner nor a President-Elect." Moments later Martha Karua who is the Azimio running mate reacted and said, "The Constitution and our laws are clear about how the IEBC should conduct its business and the role of the Chairperson of the IEBC in delivering credible elections. As such, we will be pursuing all constitutional and legal options available to us."
