Elgeyo Marakwet county senator breaks his silence over the recent killings in his home county by the bandits. Taking to his Twitter account, the Vocal senator faulted Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi and the statehouse.
However, the government had disarmed these reservists arguing that it wanted to capture their details digitally. In addition, the government had promised to vet and train them afresh before issuing them with firearms.
Until now the government is yet to honor its promise something which has caused the upsurge of banditry attacks in Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties.
Unfortunately, in the 21st century, our country is still battling with old-fashioned practices like cattle rustling. Something urgent needs to be done. Recently we witnessed Laikipia killings as a result of banditry attacks.
Is the government doing enough in protecting its citizens? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
