ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale Issues A Statement After IEBC Commissioners Were Heckled

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale has finally reacted after reports emerged that Juliana Cherera and the other IEBC commissioners were heckled in Mombasa by a section of staff during a function that was held last year. Speaking on his social account on Twitter the vocal Azimio leader wondered when IEBC became a club of few privileged individuals. Criticising the act by the staff members he said that it has never happened in the history of any electoral body in Kenya where commissioners who have a divergent views or opinions are set up for heckling by the junior staff members.

Philip Etale has shown his disappointment after Cherera claimed that Wafula Chebukati failed to intervene during the embarrassing act. Cherera said that Chebukati distanced himself as they were booed. Cherera, Francis Mathenge Wanderi, Irene Cherop Masit and Justus Abongo Nyang'anya faulted Chebukati for not defending them. In his statement Philip Etale said, "So just when did the @IEBCKenya become a club of a few privileged individuals. Never in the history of the electoral body has a Commissioner with divergent opinion been set up for heckling by junior staff. Wa! Pole sana Julliana Cherera."
