"I really did not plan to ride a bike with labor pains, but it ended up happening,"
New York MP Julie Anne Genter wrote on her Facebook page.
The New Zealand MP rode her bicycle to the hospital in labor pains early Sunday and delivered one hour later.
A Green Party spokesman on transport issues was not doing so for the first time - he was a minister three years ago when he made such a trip.
Ms. Genter, 41, is a prominent advocate and cycling speaker.
The American-born politician said the child's pain was "not bad" when she and her husband decided to ride a bicycle.
