The political temperatures are now set after the two main presidential candidates interested in succeeding President Uhuru named their running mates for the August 9th Polls from the vote rich and populous Mt Kenya region.
The naming of Martha Karua and Rigathi Gachagua as the running mate of Raila Odinga and his nemesis William Samoei Ruto respectively is set to change the political dynamics of gubernatorial seats in the region. In Meru County the impact will affect UDA's Mithika Linturi, Incumbent Kiraitu Murungi and women representative Kawira Mwangaza who are keen to occupy the seat come August. But who will win with the changing political dynamics?
An opinion poll conducted by Meru News Media in which 890 respondents took part in reveals that after the naming of the running mates Senator Mithika Linturi will win the gubernatorial seat with 46.85 per cent popularity support. The vocal Senator was supported by 417 respondents.
He was distantly followed by Incumbent Governor Hon Kiraitu Murungi who garnered 31.24 per cent popularity rating after getting support of 278 participants.
Woman Representative Kawira Mwangaza came a distant third with 18.09 per cent of total respondents. 1.46 per cent of the respondents remained undecided on who to support while 2.36 per cent votes were spoiled.
