Blow to UDA and Wiper Candidates in Machakos By-Election as MCC Gains Support

The Mount Kenya Community popularly known as Gema has endorsed the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party candidate Mutua Katuku in Machakos County Senate by-election.

The group, including businessmen and elders, prepared a ritual to crown Katuku on Sunday.

The event, organized at the Machakos Agricultural Exhibition Grounds, was led by Gema community chairman in Machakos County, Joseph Githehu.

Katuku was escorted to the ceremony by senior officials of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party led by former Machakos County Assembly Speaker Bernard Mungata.

The race for the by-elections scheduled for March 18 has attracted more than a dozen candidates.

Top leaders from the Wiper party led by Kalonzo Musyoka, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party of governor Alfred Mutua and the United Democratic Alliance have launched fierce campaigns ahead of the by-elections.

Among the candidates for the ticket are Agnes Kavindu Muthama of the Wiper party, Ulbanus Ngengele of UDA and Mutua Katuku of Maendeleo Chap Chap.
