Revealed: Why The Fate of 4 IEBC Commissioners Now Lies With President

The National Assembly voted on Thursday night after extending sittings beyond the normal time to accept a committee report that recommended for the removal of the four independent electoral and boundaries commission (iebc) commissioners. The four include Juliana Cherera (vice chairperson), Irine Masit, Justus Nyang’aya and Francis Wanderi.

The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee confirmed that the four petitions filed against the four commissioners met the threshold seeking their removal.

The four gave a contradicting statement where by they disowned the presidential results that were announced by IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati where he declared president William Ruto the winner defeating his main opponent Raila Odinga.

Following the national assembly decision to recommend the suspension of the four commissioners, now their fate lies in the hands of the president who can decide to suspend them and form a tribunal committee to try them.

In conclusion, if the four will be suspended, they will only be entitled to have monthly salary shelved to a half.
