The Deputy President has dropped off the offer from Mount Kenya Foundation a group of wealthy businessmen from the central region negotiating on behalf of the community as One Kenya Alliance team led by Amani National Congress Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi surrenders to their mission.
According to the Mount Kenya Foundation Vice Chairman, Mr. Titus Ibue had informed that after engaging Raila Odinga in their negotiations scheme, they were also planning to meet other Presidential hopefuls among them those in One Kenya Alliance, DP Ruto included.
"After sitting down with all the presidential candidates, we will sit down and evaluate them, and the person who will fit the character of the person we would want to be the president, we will recommend that to the President," Mr. Titus Ibue said.
However, despite the Mount Kenya Foundation offering to sit with all Presidential Candidates who are seeking the region's support in 2022, Deputy President William Ruto has declined the offer informing that he believes in the people and that they are the ones who will decide to come to the next general election.
The Deputy President even said that "It will be between those who prioritize positions for leaders against those of us who are keen on jobs creation for the millions of ordinary Kenyans."
With Mathira Member of Parliament adding that "Let them (the rich) go ahead and support Raila Odinga, We will continue to back the Deputy President."
However despite DP Ruto shooting down the offer from the Mt Kenya Foundation team, the One Kenya Alliance are expected to meet with the team on October 7th with Amani National Congress Party leader Musalia Mudavadi informing that,
"The meeting is on as scheduled. I will present my views and policies before the Mount Kenya Foundation to convince them about my suitability. Forget about the propaganda being spread that we have refused to attend. Mt Kenya is a key region in my program,” Mudavadi has said.
