The newly-elected Kabuchai Member of Parliament Majimbo Kalasinga could raise eyebrows amongst the members of public on his next move ahead of 2022 general election in a few days to come after he was spotted in deputy president Dr William Ruto's company.
This follows after Kalasinga appears to be slowly dumping FORD-Kenya and Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula for Dr Ruto when he joined the Tanga Tanga team which has pitched in Western part of Kenya to campaign for the deputy president's forthcoming State House bid.
After winning the constituency's recent by-election, the MP hinted to some locals that he would warm up to the DP.
He emerged victorious after beating his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rival Evans Kakai Masinde. Kalasinga garnered 19,274 votes while Kakai got 6455.
The minipoll was conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) early this year after the then sitting MP James Lusweti passed on while battling with arthritis.
This is a big boost to Dr Ruto in his bid to consolidate his Western Kenya vote base because his new catch will reduce his workload by canvassing for votes and popularizing UDA party on his behalf.
However, this is a huge blow to Wetangula and FORD-Kenya fraternity because they had a formidable footsoldier who had joined them to reinforce their future political endeavours.
Deputy president was visited Bungoma on Saturday to campaign for his 2022 presidential ambitions. Amongst the constituencies he visited in the county include Sirisia and Kimilili, and others. He also made a stopover at Kipkaren River center situated at the border of Uasin Gishu and Kakamega counties.
