Chepalungu is not only the home to former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto but also his major stronghold compared to the existing sub counties in the region. However by the look of things in the ground, Isaac Ruto is on the verge of loosing support from his home area residents and shift focus on the sitting Governor Dr. Hilary Barchok.
According to area residents who were witnessing water borehole drilling in Cheptuonik Primary School, the current county government has done them well by ensuring they get the water which they are in dire need. Despite the school having a large water tank built by Tenwek hospital community, locals have never been able to source water from the school tank. These frustrations led to them calling on the county government to come to their rescue. According to one local, the former governor only brought water geo specialist into the area and discovered plenty of water. However, nothing was put into action unlike what Barchok has done now. This has made the area residents loose hope in Isaac Ruto and vow to support Hilary Barchok come 2022.
