Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has now threatened to boycott the most awaited August 9 general elections if the Electoral Commission (IEBC) will not agree to apply the usage of both the manual and Electronic registers in the polls.
While addressing a gathering in the county of Kiambu, Raila insisted that IEBC must use the both registers to ensure that voters that the registered voters whose details will not be found in the electronic gadgets can find their way in the manual register so that no one is barred from exercising their democratic right of electing their leaders.
He further stated that the handwritten register was an irreducible minimum to his Azimio camp while addressing a crowd in Githurai.
"With a manual register, it will be easy to tell how many people have voted in every polling station. In the electronic register, there is no record that remains...," Raila stated.
He added that they will not negotiate with the IEBC over their demand to have both electronic and manual register used in the august polls, failure to which he stated that there will be no Elections on August 9.
