The National government through the ministry of Interior Security and the ministry of energy has issued a stern warning to all Kenyans who are currently living or illegally encroaching along the power lines to evacuate within the next 30 days.
During the press conference the interior security cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i said that the clearances will be done and coordinated by the grassroots of the national government in consideration of the affected victims.
This comes days after a national wide blackout was experienced making some of the Kenya Power and Lighting Commission arrested and taken to court because of the blackout. Also, President Uhuru Kenyatta gave orders to prohibit the selling of scrap metals as they were termed as the cause of the nationwide blackout.
Are Kenyans who are living near the power lines safe? Should the government have more measures put forward to clear the residents rather than taking the away abruptly?
