FACT CHECK: Here Is The Truth About Reports That Raila Odinga Was Leading In Diaspora Vote

Kenyans thronged different polling stations to cast their votes and those in the diaspora were not left behind with at least 12 countries being able to ensure citizens of the East African-based country took part in the exercise.

A report has been making rounds on different social media platforms that showed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was leading in the votes cast in Australia.

According to the statistics seen, the Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate had bagged 198 of the cast votes in Australia followed by his closest rival William Ruto of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

A fact check has now established that the reports were false and further clarification from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission indicated that of the diaspora countries where Kenyans were voting, Australia was not one of them.

The 12 countries which have estimated voters of 10, 443, include Canada, the USA, Qatar, Germany, United Kingdom, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
