Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’ i Condemns DP Ruto's Rally Disruption

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi has condemned DP Ruto's rally in Busia County and ask Commissioner to arrest the youths linked to yesterday's incident.

His remarks came barely few hours after four vehicles were pelted with stones on Saturday as a enraged youth heckled DP Ruto's in Busia Town.

While addressing the journalist at Trinity TV and Radio in Ol-Kalau, Matiang’i directed immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits of the planned protest in Western county yesterday.

“The law will not tolerate anyone disrupting public peace. All politicians and candidates are authorised to sell their agendas freely in every part of the country,” he said.

In addition, Matiang’i also said that security should be beefed up ealier enough whenever such political rallies are going to take place somewhere.

The cabinet secretary said that as at now, five suspects have since been nabbed, and that probes are ongoing.

Despite yesterday's incident, the DP Ruto proceeded with his presidential campaigns in Bungoma County.

The presidential hopeful is said to have reverted to Korinda junction on the Kisumu-Busia highway before he came across charged youth, who blocked the road, lit a bonfire and pelted him with stones.
