Baringo incumbent senator Gideon Moi who is also the chairman of Kenya African National Union (KANU) party is one the top leaders in Azimio La Umoja movement. He has been campaigning for Raila Amolo Odinga's Presidential bid opposing DP Ruto whom together are from Rift Valley region.
Many would ask why he has an opposing view despite most Rift Valley region leaders backing DP's presidential ambitions? The issue of succession politics might have played a key role in defining this. However, Gideon has publicly revealed why he those to take that direction in politics.
While addressing congregants in Kabartonjo, Baringo County, he said that he is supporting Raila so as to safeguard the interests of the community incase Azimio takes a lead in the forthcoming General election. He accepted DP's move saying that its wise to take different paths and not to place all votes in one basket.
While using an example of the Kikuyu community, who have both Deputies incase each side wins, it's a win to them, he assured the locals of his move to Azimio as fruitful.
