Residents of Garissa Township constituency in Garissa county are today voting to elect their new member of parliament months after the resignation of former legislator Aden Duale to join president William Ruto's cabinet as defense cabinet secretary.
Ruling UDA party has fielded retired major Dekow Barrow as it's candidate in the Garissa Town parliamentary race. Dekow unsuccessfully vied for Garissa gubernatorial seat on a UDA party ticket in the just concluded August polls.
The UDA party parliamentary candidate has already casted his vote NEP girls polling station at accompanied by her wife and close family members.
" UDA party candidate Hon. Major Dekow has casted his vote at NEP girls polling station" reported local Delta TV Kenya on its official Facebook page.
Dekow Barrow is facing stiff competition from his close competitor Nassir Dolal alias Jofle of UDM party. Barrow is been backed by former legislator Aden Duale and top leaders allied to Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
The UDM party candidate unsuccessfully vied for the parliamentary seat in August polls locking horns with the then member of parliament Aden Duale. He secured the second position after Duale who retained his seat on a UDA party ticket.
Stiff competition is expected between the two candidates both from Kenya Kwanza Alliance affiliate parties.
