Kenya is experiencing an intensive campaign period as the August polls near. The presidential contest is shaping up to be a two horse race between deputy president William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga. President Uhuru Kenyatta is likely to play a critical role on who succeeds him after his retirement.
The first thing will be to thank the people of this region for standing with him throughout his political career. According to Wambugu, the second thing that the president will do during his visit is to give political direction on where he wants the country to head.
Ngunjiri Wambugu has revealed this as he shared details of a meeting he held with grassroot leaders to prepare for president Uhuru's visit. The lawmaker was also collecting views on what needs to be done for Jubilee party to revive.
"Today we prepared the ground for Uhuru Mashinani tours when he will come to say Ahsante for our region standing with him during his multi-decade long political career. The president will also share his opinion on the direction he believes Kenya should take, based on experience," read part of a statement by Wambugu.
All signs show like the president will be backing Azimio la Umoja coalition which is led by Raila Odinga. Uhuru Kenyatta has fallen out with his deputy William Ruto. Going by Ngunjiri's sentiments, Raila Odinga might win big from Uhuru's Mt Kenya visit.
