The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition running mate Martha Karua, talking to their elect members yesterday at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre commonly known as KICC, said that they had majority of Members of Parliament elect which meant they would control the next Parliament. She said that they already had 180 elected MPs at the time of the meet and great event.
"For all of you, because you are in Nairobi, we need to distribute ourselves to where our places where we are needed in order to guard our win, because we have won. I was looking at the list of MPs, I am very attempted to read our names, but we are just short of 180 when you combine. We have 24 governors at the moment. If you add Mombasa and Kakamega whose by-election is coming later, you will see we have strength around the country," Karua stated.
However, looking at the latest figures , the United Democratic Alliance has 1 elected MPs, ODM has 75, Jubilee 25, Wiper 19, Independent 8, Ford Kenya 5, ANC 5, DAP-K 5,KANU 5, UDM 6, PAA 3, Maendeleo ChapChap 2 and TSP 1.
Kenya Kwanza has 161 MPs elect compared to Azimio's 156 and 12 Independent. This is contrary to what Martha karua said.
