It has been a political full cycle for former Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi. At one point, he is at the peak of his political career. Then, suddenly, he is at a political deathbed, only to recover and bounce back in style.
After suffering a humiliating defeat during the 2017 general election, Aburi found himself in Arusha, Tanzania as a member of the East Africa Legislative Assembly ( EALA). His Jubilee Party had come to his rescue.
And now, he is back with a bang as he aims to recapture the Tigania East MP seat, which he last held in 2017.
As a smart political survivor and strategist, he has decided to follow the country's political wind. Right now, he is a key Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga's campaigner in the larger Mount Kenya region.
He has been on Raila's campaign trail across the country. The Aburi wave is sweeping across Meru County. It is a political rebirth of a former legislator.
In 2017, he went against the grain when he defied the then Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta to support Raila's State House bid. And lucky he was, as he easily clinched the MP seat on an ODM party ticket.
After a five year absence from the local political scene, the fiery and sometimes controversial former lawmaker is officially back! Will he recapture his old seat?
