Kindiki's Arrival in Lamu
After security threats occurred in Lamu a few days ago, the cabinet secretary in charge of interior coordination arrived in the area today aboard a military helicopter to oversee the situation. The minister wore a full police uniform to demonstrate the significance of his visit.
In a social media update, the cabinet secretary stated that Kenya is safe and that any foreign threat will be dealt with accordingly, as well as stating that the Kenyan police and soldiers are watchful at all borders.
The Governor of Lamu receiving the CS
He was greeted by Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, who was recently elected on a United Democratic Alliance ticket and has been leading negotiations to guarantee that security returns to the troubled region.
This is his first visit to the region, only hours after addressing a conference in Kerio Valley, where two ladies were shot and killed by bandits during Christmas celebrations when they raided a nearby village.
In addition, he disclosed that he attended public engagements with locals and inhabitants of the region, who were accompanied by a security unit that has been patrolling the Bonni Forest, which has been the site of criminal activity in recent days.
