JKIA Terminal 2 to Close on Friday and Sunday As Kenya Hosts US First Lady

The United States of America First Lady arrived in Namibia yesterday 22 February 2023 for the start of her African tour which will also take in Kenya.

Jill Biden (left) arrived in Namibia on Wednesday 22 February 2023.

Although there's a lot of hush-hush information regarding her movement she is expected to arrive in Kenya on Friday around noon and the VIP Terminal 2 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will remain closed from 11 am to 5 pm.

She will also depart from Kenya on Sunday at an unspecified time.

The United States Special Service takes the security of the President and his family as a matter of prime importance.

US official sources say her visit will strengthen ties and open up rapporteur for another visit by her husband President Joe Biden any time later this year.

“The purpose of her trip is to reaffirm the US government’s investments in Africa, not just in their governments, but in their people and to continue her work to empower women and young people,” a senior US administration official said.

Judging from previous visits by senior US dignitaries it is expected that mobile phone communication will be jammed in Nairobi and its vicinity during the crucial moments of her arrival and departure.

This will also be the first visit by a senior member of the Biden administration to sub-Saharan Africa this year.
