Boni Khalwale Explains Why The Postponement Of Mombasa And Kakamega Gubernatorial Elections Is Bad

Once again, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has postponed the gubernatorial elections. According to him, there is intimidation of the IEBC officials. The elections were postponed last time after the ballot papers had issues.

Several political leaders have taken to social media to speak about it. The latest one being the incoming Kakamega county senator honourable Boni Khalwale. Khalwale has explained why the postponing is dangerous for the counties. On his official Facebook page, he said;

"Suspension of Kakamega & Mombasa gubernatorial elections has serious constitutional implications because first, Oparanya and Joho are no longer governors, MCAs must be sworn in immediately, and thereafter elect their speakers and finally the speakers must then immediately assume office as acting governors"

It should be noted that Chebukati has not given another date for the elections. Previously, the elections were to be on 23 this month. The residents will therefore have to wait for another date.
