President William Ruto suffers a significant loss as a result of lawyers turning against him and rejecting his initiative. In a letter dated December 9 to them, the head of state requested the speakers of the National Assembly and Senate to take the initiative in establishing the position of the official opposition leader.
President Eric Theuri of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has taken a position against President Wiliam Ruto's proposed constitutional reforms, calling them unconstitutional and urging Parliament to maintain the rule of law.
The president of the Law Society of Kenya claims that the amendment is a direct copy of the Building Bridges Initiative.
According to the LSK President, "The courts have very clearly established a precedent that those proposed amendments should not be entertained by the Parliament."
